16x24 Vine Charcoal on Rag Paper

"Tripper"

Painting Wild Things And Wild Places

Pictured left is the beautiful full size version of the above charcoal as it sits as part of a fantastic private colllection. These pieces done on this scale have a wonderful precence in a room. This particular piece is suspended or floated, inside a very large deep rabbet frame so as to keep your entire focus centered on the scene, it is a simple, unique and incredibly effective means of presenting Daniel's work in this medium.

Gathering Vines For Charcoal Along The Rivers Edge....

Daniel's Vine Charcoals are produced using materials derived from natural sources and processed in a very primitive manner. Using the roots of various tree's and a very special cooking method post harvesting, Daniel manufactures his own vine charcoal right at his studio. The process yields charcoal sticks that vary in hardness and lend themselves well to producing strong images when applied to a surface in a manner not unlike his pastel paintings. These rich emotive works have real presence and texture that can only be accomplished using this wonderful natural material.
